Who We Are

EFA Foundation is a legally registered non-profit organization under the Ministry of Law and Human Rights of the Republic of Indonesia (Kemenkumham RI), operating as a foundation (Yayasan) with full legal recognition to carry out social, educational, and humanitarian activities across Indonesia.

Our foundation was established with a deep conviction that education and sport are not privileges, but universal rights that must be accessible to all individuals, regardless of their background, status, or circumstance. We exist to serve those who are often excluded or forgotten by formal systems — including refugees, correctional facility inmates, indigenous youth, displaced persons, and marginalized communities.

Our mission is not only to deliver services, but to restore dignity, create opportunity, and build resilience for vulnerable populations through two pillars of intervention:

  1. Language and Literacy for Empowerment (LLE) — breaking barriers through English and Arabic education, helping participants access knowledge, communication, and opportunity.
  2. Education Through Sport (ETS) — harnessing the power of football as a platform to build psychosocial wellbeing, leadership, teamwork, and personal growth.

Through these programs, EFA Foundation strives to:

  • Empower individuals with tangible skills for self-development;
  • Provide safe and inclusive spaces for learning and growth;
  • Strengthen social cohesion and intercultural understanding;
  • Support the reintegration of inmates into society;
  • Offer pathways of hope for refugee children and youth.

EFA Foundation operates in full alignment with global human rights principles, humanitarian standards, and Indonesia’s national development priorities, while contributing directly to several United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education) and SDG 10 (Reduced Inequalities).

We believe that real change begins at the grassroots — with people, communities, and partnerships committed to building a more inclusive future. “When education and sport become accessible, dignity is restored, hope is renewed, and lives are transformed.”
